STUBBY THE TURTLE
Green Sea Turtle
Species: Green Sea Turtle (Chelonia mydas)
Age:Sub-Adult
Female
Weight: ~ 60 lbs.
Diet: Squid and Leafy Greens
Stranding Date: 05/09/01
Stranding Location: Duval County on the east coast of Florida
Comments:Stubby is missing both of her front flippers due to entanglement in monofilament line, a common type of fishing line. She is unable to submerge and swim properly, therefore has become a permanent resident. Many animals come to CMA because of entanglement in marine debris. Line, rope, plastic bags, and other trash can become wrapped around animals. They often are not able to free themselves. Many drown or are left with permanent injuries. If debris is swallowed it can cause gastrointestinal impactions and they can starve to death. Most marine debris is preventable by properly disposing of trash and recycling plastics.

RESPECT YOUR ELDERS
Respecting your elders can be as easy as going to a retirement home and reading a book to someone who has lost their vision ,or walking someone who no longer has a friend or a relative to walk with. There are so many ways to respect an elder. You could change someones day by just saying hi or how was your day? I always like to help my nonnie (which is my grandma) rake her leaves and water her yard See there are a lot of ways to help and respect an elder. You can also help an elder cross the street if they are alone. Respecting an elder can make their day so …. next time time you see an elder strugling help them! DONT BE RUDE!
