Comments:Stubby is missing both of her front flippers due to entanglement in monofilament line, a common type of fishing line. She is unable to submerge and swim properly, therefore has become a permanent resident. Many animals come to CMA because of entanglement in marine debris. Line, rope, plastic bags, and other trash can become wrapped around animals. They often are not able to free themselves. Many drown or are left with permanent injuries. If debris is swallowed it can cause gastrointestinal impactions and they can starve to death. Most marine debris is preventable by properly disposing of trash and recycling plastics.
Awww
